Rangers travelled to St Mirren on Sunday afternoon for a Scottish Premier League clash as they battle it out for the league title.
Rangers were heavy favourites heading into the game and when all was said and done, goals from James Bolton and Cyriel Dessers saw them come away with a 2-1 victory on the day.
The result leaves the Gers 2nd in the Scottish Premier League table in a closely-contested battle with old rivals, Celtic.
Scottish Premier League Title Race: Current Standings
Rangers have by no means been at their best this season, with their six losses so far in 2023/24 already two more than they suffered in the whole of 2022/23.
Rangers missed out on the league title by seven points last term despite their largely excellent season and though they have already dropped more points in the current campaign, they are still very much in the title race as we enter the final month of the Scottish Premier League season.
SPL Table: Title Race Standings
- 1st - Celtic Pld 34 - Pts 81
- 2nd - Rangers Pld 34 - Pts 78
Rangers Scottish Premier League Title Odds
Rangers go into the final set of Scottish Premier League fixtures looking to win just their second league title in 10 years. Celtic, the current holders, have won nine of the last 10 but Rangers have an excellent shot at ending that reign this season.
A 3-2 loss at the hands of Ross County and a 0-0 draw with Dundee earlier this month dented Rangers’ chances of winning the league somewhat, but they are hot on the heels of their old rivals despite this.
The Gers are expected to win three of their final four league games with relative ease and as there are only two points off 1st-place Celtic, the title will likely be decided on May 11 when Rangers travel to Celtic Park.
Ranger’s remaining Scottish Premier League fixtures
- Kilmarnock (H) May 5
- Celtic (A) May 11
- Dundee (H) May 14
- Hearts (A) May 18
Celtic Scottish Premier League Title Odds
Deat, taxes and Celtic winning the Scottish Premier League. The Hoops go into their final set of fixtures top of the table with the most goals scored and the fewest goals conceded in the division.
Celtic have lost just three league games all campaign and are expected to win their remaining four games with relative ease.
Rangers at home on May 11 is their only really ‘tough’ match left but as they have lost just one of the last 10 Old Firm meetings, Celtic should come away from that fixture with at least a point, which will be enough to win them the league if they also secure three points in their other three remaining games.
Celtic’s remaining Scottish Premier League fixtures
- Hearts (H) May 4
- Rangers (H) May 11
- Kilmarnock (A) May 15
- St Miren (H) May 18
