We’re feeling pretty patriotic over at freebets.com this weekend.

Three Brits in world title fights grab our attention in the boxing world, and we think that all three will come up smelling the roses in their respective fights.

It’s by no means your traditional banker, but we are confident that the trio can can get us over the line in a 3/1 Acca.

Check out the legs here:

Josh Taylor to beat Teofimo Lopez by Decision/Technical Decision (Sunday 04:00)

Since shocking the world in 2020 with a win over Vasyl Lomachenko, Teofimo Lopez has struggled to reach those lofty heights.

A loss to George Kambosos Jr. was followed by a move to light-welterweight where he has beaten the unheralded Pedro Campa and struggled to a split decision against Sandor Martin.

It’s unknown how well the 25-year-old is going to fair long-term in the 140lb division, and he’s walking into fire against the unified champion Josh Taylor.

Taylor is 19-0 and was previously undisputed at the weight before dropping belts voluntarily – he is without question the numero uno in the division and is looking to prove the doubters wrong after a disputed split decision win over fellow Brit Jack Catterall last year.

Lopez is a tough fighter and likes to trade with his explosive power, but Taylor has mixed it with the very best and can dish out as much as he can take.

Taylor on points is the clear pick here – the ‘Tartan Tornado’ has only one stoppage win in his last five outings.

Sunny Edwards to beat Andres Campos by Decision/Technical Decision (Saturday 22:00)

Sunny Edwards may not deliver highlight-reel knockouts, but constantly puts on boxing clinics at the very top end of the sport.

The IBF flyweight champion is now promoted by Matchroom and is expected to land some of the other champions at the weight later in 2023.

Andres Campos is the latest is enter Edwards’ matrix, one that has seen the Briton win all his 19 professional fights, and 15 on the scorecards.

Campos is ranked #7 in the flyweight rankings and travels to Wembley, England, for his first fight outside of South America.

We’re expecting a complete shut-out from Edwards; 120-108 all round.

Ellie Scotney to beat Cherneka Johnson by Decision/Technical Decision (Saturday 21:00)

Catford’s Ellie Scotney is only three years into her professional career and in fight number seven has landed a world title shot.

This underlines 1) Scotney’s rapid success as a super-bantamweight and 2) the lack of real depth in the division world wide.

Cherneka Johnson is the champion travelling to the UK from Australia to defend her super-bantamweight title, winning the crown in April 2022 and since making one successful defence against Susie Ramadan.

Unfortunately, for the challenger, the gulf between challenger and champion in the women’s division can often be blurred. Johnson has done well to grab her opportunity, but Scotney has a much higher ceiling and is expected to hear the words “And the new....” this weekend.

Scotney isn’t a puncher. She is yet to win by KO in her six outings and another points win this weekend looks the most likely.
