Rob Jones

In 35 matches so far this season, Rob Jones has produced 153 yellow cards and five reds, 4.5 cards per game on average.

He was in charge of Manchester United’s crazy 3-3 draw with Coventry at Wembley last month, booking four players, including André Onana.

Meanwhile, Jones’ most-recent Newcastle appointment came on Easter weekend, sending off Anthony Gordon as the Magpies beat West Ham 4-3 in an equally bonkers game.

Sofyan Amrabat to be carded

Sofyan Amrabat was shown his seventh yellow card of the season against Crystal Palace nine nights ago, a high card count considering he’s only played 1,292 minutes, with one of these cautions coming when Newcastle trounced Man United in the EFL Cup in November.

Both teams to receive multiple cards

Both teams have received multiple cards in three of the last six encounters between these two clubs, including that aforementioned Carabao Cup tie, their last meeting at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s team have collected six cautions across their two clashes with Newcastle this season, while Eddie Howe’s team have picked up 2+ cards in six of their last nine outings.

What is card betting?

Betting on players or teams to be shown cards can be one of the most rewarding markets in football betting.

Goals can be hard to come by, while not every player can gets shots away during a game, but every player on the pitch is capable of picking up a yellow card for any kind of offence.

Card betting is simply betting on an individual player to be shown a yellow or a red card during the match, but can also be used to back a minimum/maximum number of cards to be shown during the game on either side.

Betting on cards can be a good way to boost the odds in a bet builder, and with the greater focus on VAR, referees and with so much individual data now available, we are able to look at which referees show the most cards, how many cards they show on average per game and which players tend to attract the attention of the officials.

With all this data, card betting is one of the markets available to us that we can most accurately predict.

How to bet on cards?

Card betting is very simple, with several options available to you whether you want to place a single, a double, make it an accumulator or build it into your bet builder.

If you just have a hunch that a certain player will be carded during a game, you can find their odds and place money on it, but there is far more to it than that. With our tips, we will provide some of the data behind a game that will help you build your bet into several picks, which will help you increase the odds.

As well as focusing on one or more players to be carded in a match, you can also back a certain number of cards to be shown in the match itself, or to each side. For example, you can bet on over/under three yellow cards in a game, both teams to receive a card or you can combine them all into one bet and make it into an accumulator, or make an acca across multiple matches/leagues.
